FAQ

Heavy Metal Ice Cream - Questions Answered!

"St. Louis has a favorite, new Gourmet Ice Cream Shop - It just doesn't know it yet!"

We realize there are a lot of questions involved when people hear there is a brand new ice cream shop in St. Louis opening soon, but it isn't even technically in business yet. So we thought we'd take some time and answer your most commonly asked questions - RIGHT HERE!

How Would You Describe Your Ice Cream?

Heavy Metal Ice Cream makes high quality, gourmet ice cream with flavors that you generally cannot get anywhere else in St. Louis or even close. Our ice cream base is made with a Crème Anglaise base which is a French Custard style of cooking. It uses an egg yolk rich dairy base and as high of a butterfat content as possible without being too high and unpleasant.

We are in the category of "Super Premium" ice cream which means all of our ice creams are between 14%-18% butterfat. Our machine churns at slow speeds so unlike many cheap and store bought ice creams we do not churn much air into our product. Most store bought ice creams end up being 50% air or more by weight. Ours is under 30% which is extremely hard to find outside of small batch ice cream shops like ours will be.

We produce everything small batch, made as small as a quart at a time but no more than 3 gallons at a time per flavor. Every half pint, pint, quart or half gallon container is packed completely by hand and never a machine.

Also - our cones are scratch made in house with a secret blend of spices and aromatics that give everything around us a smell that makes your tummy growl.

The bottom line with our product - is NOT A SINGLE detail is skipped or phoned in. We'll leave the gummy bears and cheap candy toppings to the other joints. Hey, nothing wrong with a cheap guilty pleasure now and then. When it's a quality ice cream EXPERIENCE that you crave.... we're your St. Louis Ice Cream Shop go-to.

Is Your Ice Cream Parlor Open Yet?

The short answer is no. We are looking to have our brick & mortar storefront open by sometime in 2019. We and we can't say enough how much we APPRECIATE your patience. We know after acquiring basically a cult status among future St. Louis dessert shops, talk is cheap. But those following us closely, and especially those who have sampled us - know we're worth the wait!

Where are you located?

We are in Crestwood, Missouri but please be aware that trying our ice cream when it is available is by appointment only and we do NOT YET have a storefront until 2019.

Trust us, when we open our Ice Cream Shop in St. Louis, we will make a really, REALLY big stink about it. I assure you, you'll know.

OK, what's the holdup?!

Well...these things take time and planning. As it is a well known fact that 1/2 of all food establishments don't make it 1 year. Even fewer make it 3 years and beyond. And a whopping 9/10 won't make it a decade. So we're not going to rush. We've been planning for 2 years...so let's take one more and make this a permanent fixture in the history of St. Louis Ice Cream Shops!

Are you looking for investors or partners?

We're certainly looking for anyone who believes in our concept and would like to talk about how to make this a reality sooner than later. True...we ARE picky. But anyone from angel investors to those with interest in a full partnership should call or email us. We WILL make time for you to speak immediately.

Why Crestwood, Mo.? Aren't there places better fit for your concept?

There are MANY underrated areas of STL where great food ideas can be born. They can also go there to die or be swallowed up by other, surrounding creative food ideas. We grew up in Crestwood, our family has lived here since 1978, and this is where we want to give back and plant our roots.

We also aim to be a fixture in the Lindbergh School District and give jobs to the local high school students, as well as anyone else looking to work hard and have a blast doing it!

You should just do a food truck then, right?

A food truck would be quicker and cheaper. But...every dollar of food truck funds take away from the big picture of St. Louis' most unique and fun Ice Cream Parlor. We truly want the old school feel of of an ice cream parlor and a scoop counter, while giving you a fun, music-centric atmosphere and a place to go with your family. Explore some memorabilia, listen to tunes, and eventually see some live entertainment. You can't do those things from a truck.

And while the local ice cream food trucks are amazing - we just feel like there is so much more we want to say and have people experience about our eventual shop, than a flashy vinyl wrap and a stereo could convey.

Will you sell your ice cream retail in stores?

While the Crestwood Ice Cream Shop is the focus, having pints on grocery shelves ASAP is CERTAINLY the plan!

Are you available for Private Events, Corporate Parties, Weddings, and more?

We sure will be. Contact us NOW for availability and details!

I can't stand Heavy Metal. Can I still buy your Ice Cream?

Of course! We don't discriminate. The focus IS all about the ice cream after all.

I don't like Heavy Metal OR Ice Cream. NOW WHAT?!
